The Pant Leg Debacle

“I do it…all by myself”. If you’ve ever had a two year old, you have heard those emphatic words. You say “fine”. But you’re really thinking, “If you would just let me help you, it would go smoother and faster”. Now your precious child has two legs in one pant leg and is so stuck they can’t even stand up. They get to a frustrated breaking point and impatiently say, “Help! Help!” like the mess they’re in is somehow your fault. You help them, of course, but you’re thinking “You wouldn’t even be in this mess if you would have let me help you from the beginning.” Insert deep breath and dramatic eye roll here.

And there you have it. We are the headstrong toddler doing things “all by myself” pushing God, the perfect parent, away because we want to be in control. Sound familiar? I know I can relate.

Psalm 18:30 – “As for God, His way is perfect; the word of the Lord is flawless. He is a shield for all who take refuge in Him.”

If we would trust God and take refuge in Him on the front end, we could avoid the adult version of two legs in one pant leg mess altogether. Take time to pray and ask God to take control of your day today.
