The Dreaded Check Out Line

“I got in the wrong line” I thought as I stood behind a screaming toddler in a shopping cart. Time seems to stand still while the toddler throws a fit and the mom frantically attempts to get through the line quicker. We all can’t help but stare at her as she tries unsuccessfully to calm the child down. Then, we all think, “why can’t that mom control her child better?” Been there? On both sides?

Interesting: The child’s disobedience is actually blamed on the parent and the parent is somehow responsible for the child’s decisions; which means other people think the child is not solely responsible for their own behavior.

Even more interesting: We, as Christians, are similar to the child. It’s assumed we aren’t solely responsible for our own actions because we reflect God (our parent) to other people. For better or worse, people are making decisions about God based on our behavior.

“Therefore be imitators of God, as beloved children.” – Ephesians 5:1

Today, you represent God to someone in actions and words whether you know it or not. Let’s be imitators of God. Ask God to show you how to share His love and kindness with others.
